I recently had the opportunity to visit the wine region in Northern Arkansas with friends and along the way we stopped by Chateau aux Arc vineyards. We sampled there wines and I just completely fell in love with their cabernet sauvignon. |
Quite delicious!

This wine came screaming out of the bottle - coming on really strong, with incredible concentration and tartness, but showing lots of potential. It took a few hours for it to calm down enough to drink. By the next day, it was definitely drinkable, especially after some breathing time in the glass. The nose is spicy, with cassis, black cherry, red raspberry, and a brambly character. The palate displays generous, pepper-infused flavors of cassis, black cherry, and sour cherry, with tobacco notes and a hint of chocolate. The long finish is full of lingering fruit, and lingers (especially in the mid-palate) for a good 30 seconds or more. I would love to taste this wine again after it's had a bit more time to mellow in the bottle. I bought this bottle during a business trip to Fort Smith - who would have expected this concentration and flavor from a wine made in Arkansas? An amazing value for $10.99. |
